Objectives:

The objective of the Merlot Association is the promotion and improvement of wine made from the Merlot grape variety. The Forum aims to provide a platform for acquiring existing and new knowledge and sharing it with members and producers through workshops and online dialogues.

Our hope is that through better knowledge and information sharing we can facilitate the improvement of both the image and quality of South African Merlot and Merlot-based blends. The Merlot Forum will also focus on Merlot marketing and awareness and identify research that could contribute to the promotion of Merlot.

INSPIRATION BEHIND THE LOGO

The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the colour of the grape. The bird gave us the opportunity to create a character.

The logo is modern and clean-cut, speaks to a younger generation and can be used for media campaigns, linked to Twitter and was designed by Haumann Smal Design Studio.
